Your garbage bin may contain dirt and germ-laden leftovers which can be dangerous for your dog, cat or other pet if ingested. Cover your dustbins and try to keep them away from your pet’s reach, say in a cabinet or shelf which your pet won't be able to open.

Having a pet is somewhat like having a child at home. You need to secure almost everything so that your pets cannot access them and put themselves into trouble. Use childproof latches on your cabinets, shelves, and even appliances like the refrigerator. These storage spaces may contain food and other items, such as chocolate, that can be harmful to your furry friend. Make sure they aren't able to open these hardware and appliances.
