It’s no longer necessary to head downtown for sensational, handcrafted ice cream: the bustling suburbs of Calgary’s S.E. are getting sweet love from XO Ice Cream & Waffles. Owners Darren and Melanie, who live in the S.E. with their two children, were longing for quality ice cream close by. Darren decided to leverage his background in restaurant management to make this dream come true.

"We were looking for a community outside of the core that was missing a niche place like this," Darren says. "Our goal is to help make the S.E. suburbs the best place to live in Calgary and to be truly part of a community.”

Located in Auburn Station, XO is a modern-day interpretation of the mom-and-pop shop – a place where families come after school, meet neighbours and create new memories. From the product and service quality to the nostalgic, youthful brand and inviting decor, no efforts were spared. Since its March 2018 opening, XO proudly serves an exclusive assortment of ice cream and sorbets (also available in take-away pints), fluffy waffles, unique sundaes, milkshakes and ice cream cakes, all made with love at the shop.

From chasing the ice cream truck on a hot summer day, to grabbing a scoop after your first soccer game of the season, to having your faces and hands covered in melted chocolate goodness, there is nothing more reminiscent of childhood than indulging in ice cream.

That’s where our fondest memories were built and we are now proud to bring this sense of youthfulness and wonder, as well as exclusive products to the bustling new community of Auburn Bay.

Taking cues from ice cream parlours of the past, XO Ice Cream & Waffles is the modern-day interpretation of the mom-and-pop shop – nostalgic, lighthearted and oh-so-unforgettable! We see XO as a place where new memories will be formed for many generations to come.
